Loyalty Points in Advanced Ecommerce(Apache Ofbiz / Opentaps)
The Reward Points features allows merchants to promote customer loyalty and increase sales by rewarding customers for their purchases and for referring other customers.
Loyalty points program allowed companies to reward their customers/ trade partners or staff by issuing points which are redeemable against a collection of excellent rewards sourced.
- Points, miles, golden nuggets… The merchant has full control on how the rewards program is implemented, starting with its name. Through an intuitive interface fully integrated with Shopping Cart’s point, the store administrator can assign a name to the program, which will be reflected anywhere across the on-line store like profile of registered customers and checkout process of advanced ecommerce application.
- Earning Points. The merchant can easily assign points to orders. The store automatically displays how many points each order will earn a customer, and shows a summary of total points for the order before and after the order is submitted. Customers can log into their account and view a summary of earned and used points at any given time.
We can track the customers last 12 months $ amount spent by using this service.

- Redeeming Points. The merchant sets a conversion rate between points and dollars. A 20% conversion rate would mean that customers can redeem 100 earned points by deducting $20 from their next purchase on the store.
In ofbiz and opentaps we can set up the promotion in which we can convert these points to some flat dollar discount, it totally depends on the business rules of the company. We redeemed these points for our clients like this, by setting up the implicit promotions from catalog manager.
150-250 points receive a 10% discount
on all orders in the next year
251-500 points receive a 15% discount
on all orders in the next year
501-1,000 points receive a 20% discount
on all orders in the next year
1,001+ points receive 25% discount discount
on all orders in the next year
- Promoting Word of Mouth(My Referrals). Merchants can also allow existing customers to earn points when they refer other customers that make a purchase on the store. The amount of points earned on a referral can be flat or based on the new customer’s order amount.
